Summary

On July 13, 2021, a crop spraying plane owned by Central Ag experienced engine failure while spraying in the vicinity of the intersection of 220th St and Mahogany Ave south of Carroll, near Swan Lake. In an effort to gain as much altitude as possible, the pilot dumped his load, which landed primarily on the property at 21842 Mahogany Ave. The load consisted of ~160gal of water mixed with 4 to 5gal of Bifenthrin and 8gal of Chlorpyrifos. The mixture landed in/near a small pond on the property. Sampling in fall of 21 indicated that most of the contamination had been remediated, but that traces remained in water and sediment in the Nepple pond. Additional sampling was required for spring 22 to recheck. Sampling in March of 22 confirmed that chemicals of concern were no longer present above detection limits in the pond water and sediment. The site does not require additional work at this time.
