6/16/2015	Andrew, I brought up the fact that you are waiting for approval to send trash to the Des Moines landfill with Land Quality Bureau Chief Alex Moon and wanted to let you know what I learned. Alex indicated that the Des Moines landfill is waiting for the Governor to sign a bill that holds them harmless from any lawsuits for taking HPAI waste. Evidently, it could take as long as two weeks for the Governor to sign the bill because the language is embedded in a larger bill, which means the review will take longer. It will then be USDA’s call as to whether they want to designate the Des Moines landfill for disposal. Alex suggested that, if you have a point of contact with USDA, you may want to ask what plan B is if the Des Moines landfill option never materializes. Maybe the Malvern landfill?
