Field Office Compliance - Report a spill

Iowa law requires the timely reporting of oil and hazardous substances creating a hazardous condition (Iowa Code 455B.386; 567 Iowa Administrative Code 131). To determine if an incident can be reported online please complete the questionnaire. If a response to any question is yes, the incident requires verbal reporting. Contact the DNR’s Spill Reporting Hotline at 515-725-8694.

If in Doubt, Call it In.
Do you require immediate technical assistance?
Is there a risk to the health or safety of the public as a result of the spill or incident?
Was there an evacuation or shelter-in-place order?
Is the volume spilled 25 gallons or greater of petroleum products?
Is the volume spilled 100 pounds or greater of anhydrous ammonia?
Is there an impact to a surface water, well, storm drain/culvert or drain tile?
