4/25/2019 Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> 12:01 PM (1 minute ago) to Perry, Michael, Scott They don't usually require a full construction permit application for the mixers, but whatever you're comfortable with. Below is an email I refer to when this comes up...thanks for the update. Veerabhadrappa, Taroon [DNR] <taroon.bidar@dnr.iowa.gov> Fri, Feb 24, 2012, 8:26 AM to Janet, Dennis, Jennifer, Michael Janet, We are not requiring utilities to get a permit for installing a solar bee or a mixer in the EST. However, they need to let us know in writing what they are doing and get a written approval from us (even via email) prior to the installation. This is to ensure that the equipment they are installing is NSF approved, openings for electrical conduits are properly sealed, and the tank is disinfected prior to putting it back in service. Can you please ask them to send us a request for approval of the installed mixer along with a brochure of the equipment? Thanks. JANET GASTINEAU
4/25/2019 Perry Gjersvik 11:37 AM (24 minutes ago) to me, Michael, Scott Janet, We mailed out the AS-Built Construction Permit Application to the IDNR Water Supply Section today for the PRV vault at the Xenia Rural Water Connection in Madrid. We are currently working on the const permit application for the mixer installed in the water tower and will send that in soon. Thanks! JANET GASTINEAU
2/20/2019 Madrid WD #0848015. Chris has a permit revision due to phthlate detect. Do we need to add a CC from Xenia? Any other changes? Yes, add the emergency connection from Xenia Boone to Madrid. Their engineer is working on an as-built application for this modification and the addition of the mixer in the EST. I'm not aware of any other changes. Detect is equal to the MDL, so that will not change. JANET GASTINEAU
2/12/2019 Perry Gjersvik 8:35 AM (1 hour ago) to me, Contact, Michael Good morning Janet, Thank you for getting this information to me. We will work on getting the appropriate design schedules and other information to the IDNR for as-built construction permit approvals. JANET GASTINEAU
2/11/2019 Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> 2:33 PM (1 minute ago) to Perry, Contact, Michael Perry, I talked with Mike Fischer today about a couple of items I wanted to follow up on with you. I inspected the Xenia Madrid system last week and they reported a new meter was installed in the Xenia booster pump station that allowed water to flow both directions--normal operation is for Madrid to feed Xenia, but in an emergency Xenia can now feed Madrid by bringing water down from their Boone system. In addition to the meter replacement, Madrid installed a pressure reducing valve in a vault to the south of the booster pump station. As an emergency connection to Xenia, this should have been reviewed by the Iowa DNR Water Supply Engineering staff as a modification. Please contact Sara Smith (515-725-0433) to discuss which Schedules must be submitted for this as-built project. I also learned that when Madrid's elevated storage tower was painted in 2017, a mixer was installed. Although the Iowa DNR does not currently have construction standards for such a modification, we still review these for approval. Please contact Taroon Bidar (515-725-0278) to find out what information must be submitted for this review/approval. Finally, construction permit 2018-0088W for the Highway 17 water main replacement project expired without project initiation. Please contact Sara Smith for an extension prior to construction.
