1/11/2019 Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> 8:30 AM (0 minutes ago) to madridwtp I got to thinking about hours of operation. Your turbidimeter is before your ground storage so it might be better to report well operation since it is more consistent with how long you actually produced water. We're using it just to make sure the number of readings taken for CFE match up to each system's requirements for CFE monitoring. In your case, you're still only taking in frequent incremental readings of CFE, but there should be more because it has to be done every 15 minutes. So in January, why don't you report hours of operation for wells; if you can do both wells and HSPs that's even better. JANET GASTINEAU
1/11/2019 follow up from phone call Gastineau, Janet <janet.gastineau@dnr.iowa.gov> Attachments 8:03 AM (18 minutes ago) to madridwtp I've attached a couple of turbidimeter calibration protocol for your reference. Oskaloosa is a larger system and might have a couple of separate requirements than you. I use the attached template to review protocols and you're welcome to also. This email also serves as a reminder that you are allowed special provision for having two-filters, but you must still make sure the continuous turbidimeter is recording every 15 minutes. This was detailed in the survey report from 2016. Since you're taking time this year to get everything in order, this is an absolute. In fact, I've let it go on way too long as it is. It must be done by March 1, 2019, or I will have to issue another violation like I did two years ago; it could have a public notification requirement with it. Please work with your systems integrator to get this done, along with ensuring the data is being stored and can be accessed and retained for 5 years. JANET GASTINEAU
1/11/2019 Mike had some questions about the new MOR and reporting operating hours--well operation or HSP operation. I told him to use HSP operation since most compliance is based on delivery of water to the DS. JANET GASTINEAU
