The site, located in downtown Cedar Rapids, is an apartment complex built on a former parking lot. Environmental assessments revealed that, although diesel and groundwater were discovered in groundwater in excess of statewide standards for a protected groundwater source, a hazardous condition does not appear to be present at the site. DNR is requiring an environmental covenant at the site to prohibit well installation and require a DNR-approved soil and groundwater management plan prior to any future subsurface work. The required environmental covenant has been recorded for the property on 12/16/2025 and no additional work is required at this time.
