A former restaurant that is being developed as a fireworks store. Petroleum was discovered in the groundwater during excavation to uncover the service lines, and DNR and consultants were called in to investigate. It is suspected that the contamination is from off site, as a Phase I ESA revealed no evidence of potential sources on the site and multiple gas stations are and historically have been located around the site. DNR requested a site assessment to evaluate the source and delineate the contamination. Work is currently underway at the site to assess the soil and groundwater.
