The former location of a filling station and service station and, most recently, a car dealership, an environmental assessment was completed at the site to facilitate the sale of the property. The assessment discovered the presence of low levels of metals, BTEX, and TEH in the soil and groundwater. Although some contaminants are present, the lack of receptor pathways along with the expected future commercial use of the property makes the site unlikely to present a hazardous condition. After an environmental covenant was recorded for the site to prevent the installation of wells, prevent residential use without additional assessment and possible remediation, and requiring a soil and groundwater management plan for any subsurface work, DNR required no further assessment at this time and closed the site.
