A commercial property that historically operated as a gasoline filling station from 1940 until at least 2019, the site has been redeveloped as a drive-through coffee shop and continues to operate as such. Soil and groundwater sampling revealed that although some petroleum-related contaminants remain in the soil and groundwater above applicable regulatory standards, significant risk is not presented to site users based on the site use and a lack of exposure pathways. An environmental covenant and soil and groundwater management plan have been enacted at the site to prevent residential redevelopment, prevent the installation of wells, prevent the use of polyethylene water lines, and ensure appropriate handling of any soil and groundwater encountered during work at the site. With these measures in place, DNR does not require any additional assessment at the site at this time.
