Summary
A former grain storage site that was a part of the 1940s era Commodity Credit Corporation program. The site contained approximately 26 grain bins at one point, and stored grain was fumigated with carbon tetrachloride to control pests before EPA banned carbon tetrachloride as a pesticide in 1985. The United States Department of Agriculture identified this site as potentially contaminated by these past practices and conducted a site assessment to evaluate this potential. Groundwater, soil gas, and potable water well samples were collected and analyzed for potential contaminants. Analytical results from the samples did not reveal any evidence of contamination related to the grain storage and pest control practices and no additional work is required at the site at this time.
