A former used auto dealership that is currently owned by Northeast Iowa Food Bank, who intends to renovate the former dealership into a customer service engagement location for food pantry customers. A Phase I Site Investigation discovered recognized environmental conditions at the site including the historic uses of the property as a gas station and a used car dealership with an associated repair shop as well as a nearby documented leaking underground storage tank site. A subsequent Phase II investigation found that although some contamination is present at the site, no evidence was found to suggest that the contaminations levels present an unacceptable risk based on the concentrations and site use. As a result, DNR does not require any additional work at the site at this time.
