An active agricultural supply facility that stores and dispenses dry fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, and anhydrous ammonia. In 2011, DNR responded to a reported fish kill in the pond of a neighboring residence and discovered elevated ammonia and nitrate-nitrite levels in the water that was the apparent cause. Further investigation found elevated ammonia and nitrate-nitrite levels in the catchment basin located on the Agriland FS property, which is upgradient from the pond in question. As a result, DNR required assessment of the site which found elevated ammonia and nitrate-nitrite in the soil and groundwater. A subsequent excavation of 3,376 cubic yards of contaminated soil removed the bulk of the source, and quarterly groundwater monitoring from 2018-2021 demonstrated decreasing levels of ammonia and nitrate-nitrite in the groundwater. Once a decreasing trend was demonstrated in 2021, DNR closed the site and does not require any additional action at this time.
