1/28/2011	01/27/11 - The shallow farrowing pits were plugged to prevent more manure from releasing. Per Dodgen, the amount of manure released included the amount in the pipe (430' long and 8" diameter) and about 1000 gal more from one of the shallow pits. Sand was placed on the manure and road to absorb it and the county scraped the sand off the road. An excavator dug several holes in the snow in the road ditch to determine where the manure migrated. The tile intake was identified and no manure was observed in the vicinity. Manure was observed pooling in the ditch about halfway between the facility driveway and the tile intake. The maure was pumped out and sand was placed to absorb the manure. The tile intake was plugged.	MICHELLE JOHNSON
1/28/2011	01/28/11 - Per Dodgen, straw was placed on the manure to contain it. Two foot of manure was pumped from the outdoor tank to the lagoon on 01/27/11, and two more feet will be pumped today to allow for more storage until spring. The elbow joint has been temporarily repaired with aluminum screws until it can be fully repaired this spring. Dodgen said he will call later today with an update. I instructed him to watch for more runoff today as tempuratures rise.	MICHELLE JOHNSON
