(06/15/2016) Arcadia Limestone was delivering a load of pea gravel for Whiterock Conservancy (WRC) and a fuel line fitting struck a low field terrace upon entering the site that cracked a brass fuel line fitting. The driver continued to the dump site with the load not noticing that the truck was losing fuel. Upon exiting the trail he noticed the leak and immediately contacted WRC staff (Chris Henning and Greg Henning), who were present in the campground, who assisted in laying mulch to staunch flow as well as gathering 5 gallon buckets to collect leaking fuel. Approximately 25 gallons of fuel was recovered in buckets. Further WRC staff was called in the meantime (Matt Reiling and Dave Burmeister) who continued to lay mulch over the diesel drops along the lane. Where the truck dumped the load of gravel there was a slight pool of diesel on the pasture where we estimate 1 gallon of diesel was released. The area was covered with approximately a yard of mulch. Given the distance the truck travelled since fueling and the amount of diesel recovered in buckets we are confident that no more than 10 gallons of diesel fuel was released along the approximately 3,600 feet the truck travelled prior to identifying the leak. The two spots the truck was stationary were remediated with mulch to assist in absorbing spilled diesel as well as well as along the trail.

6/15/2016	The driver notified Whiterock Conservancy (WRC) staff immediately upon noticing the fuel leak and Chris Henning contacted both Rob Davis (Conservation Lands Manager) and Conrad Kramer (Executive Director). Both contacted Matt Reiling and Dave Burmeister to assist in remediation and clean-up activities. These two staff took point to complete remediation efforts by laying mulch on and around areas affected by the diesel fuel spill. Conrad Kramer visited the site approximately 1:30pm to determine what further steps were needed and spoke with Rob Davis by phone. Due to poor phone signal there was miscommunication between them and the DNR was not notified on 6/10. Upon realizing this oversight on Monday morning, after speaking about staff about events in the past week, the DNR was notified of the fuel spill and the remediation efforts taken on 6/10.
