(11/16/2009) Anonymous call questioned surface/irrigation land application of manure.  Manure appeared to be pooled in the waterway leading to a tributary to Dirty Face Creek.  Upon arrival minimal surface runoff was observed, but both tile lines that discharged to the concrete box culvert were discharging dark brown liquid.  I collected samples and contacted owner and informed him that irrigation needed to stop.  Creek tributary was dammed up and pooled liquid was pumped off to a wagon and land applied.  

 Took field samples of both tile discharges on 11/15 and no hits of ammonia were detected.  Discharges were clean and I did not detect any odor.  I informed owner that the dammed water needs to be pumped off and then the dam could be opened up.   An estimate of total pumped gallons was requested.  

I also field tested Dirty Face Creek on 11/14 about 1 mile downstream and did not detect and noticeable impact.  Also observed creek on 11/15 at multiple points downstream and did not observe any noticeable impact.
