4/5/2016 "Upon detection of the release the pump was stopped. Staff was informed. Storm drains in the area were sealed with plastic mats. The rubber elbow was replaced with a steel elbow. As it was late in the day and very cold, the situation was stabilized for the overnight and the material was allowed to freeze. As this was a cold spell and the material was frozen, we allowed the material to sit in a frozen state until 02/18/2016. On 02/18/2016, clean up started. While we washed the gravel, we vacuumed up the rinsate with vacuum trucks. This continued on 02/18/2016, 02/19/2016, and 02/22/2016. Some contaminated gravel was scooped up and planced into a lined dumpster. As clean up was progressing slowly, we chose to bring a contractor on 02/23/2016 whose job would be to remove the gravel and transport if off site for treatment. Gravel removal continued through 02/26/2016. Vacuum trucks were brought in on 02/26/2016 for the final washing and vacuuming of the exposed soil. Clean up was completed on 02/26/2016. The material in the dumpster was tested for hydrocarbons before delivering to the local sanitary landfill." JIM KACER
