7/24/2009 Millers creek was described as flowing but the corn germ was stationary in the creek channel. Cargill officials stated that there was no oil from the corn germ on the water's of the creek. It was also reported that Roto Rooter was contacted and was bringing in a vacumn truck to remove the corn germ from the creek channel and R.R. tracks. It was agreed that all of the spilled product in the creek channel would be removed that day. Following my conversation with Ms. Heumaker, I informed James Stricker of the events pertaining to the incident. Jim asked that I contact the company officials back and inquire further about damming the creek and pumping water to either vessels or their WWTP. I was also informed to page the F.O. 5 Duty Officer and request an on-site investigation that evening. Following my conversations with Jim, I contacted Cargill officials and understood that the creek could be dammed and water pumped but it would not be convenient. Cargill officials were informed that those measures were the Department's expectations. I than tried paging the duty officer. A very short while later F.O. staff called Cargill officials back and informed them it was un-necessary to place a dam or pump water from the creek and that the on-site investigation would be deferred until the morning (11-28-01).
