5/23/2013	In response to a report of a fire at the landfill over the weekend, I visited the site. I met with Mike Harper, Mark Hanrahan, and Alan Utsler. I looked at the area where the fire occurred (middle lift near the center of the lined area. It was reported that the fire was only on the surface and possibly started from a burn barrel disposal. The operators said that the fire only occurred on the surface, not affecting the liner. They had placed soil over the area. There no sign of continuing burning (see the attached photo). The operators said they placed only foundry sand over the waste the night before. I reminded them that they need to mix it 50:50 with soil.	BILL GROSS
