6/6/2014 On 5-30-14, Brian Lee and I stopped at Sedore Sanitation's recycling building on HWY 16 south of Stockport, IA. Troy Sedore, owner, was not onsite during our visit. Brian and I walked around the facility observing and documenting our observations via digital photos. Later i contacted Troy via email to inform him of our visit and to get his contact info as i'd lost his phone number. It was provided in a reply email. On 6-6-14, I called Troy and we discussed the issues i had with his operation. Primarily, that being mixed solid waste that looked like C/D waste, waste oil containers sitting outside next to his bulk waste oil container, CRT's and appliances piled in and just outside of a small wood shed without any of the doors closed. We also discussed his transfer station permit application and that he needs to submit his operations plan. He said the reason the outdoors around his recycling building looks so bad right now is due to a city wide cleanup of Keosauqua that put them behind, he's not yet obtained the new packer trucks (the small ones that transfer small amounts of waste into larger roll offs), and the full time guy he hired a couple weeks ago is starting this coming week. I told him to work on getting some of those "outside issues" cleaned up, and i'll stop back in ~10 working days to do a follow up visit. We also discussed that even though he's working on getting permitted as a transfer station, his primary goal of his large building is to use as a recycling building. He isn't wanting to dump full loads of trash for sorting. He also mentioned a reason for being behind is because the contractor is way behind in finishing the concrete work for the loading dock / bay / recyclable baling area. KURT LEVETZOW
