10/17/2023 On October 13, 2023 I received a forwarded email from Paul Petitti that was sent to him by Jason Burt regarding a waterfoul deterrence system (described in the previous entry on 10/18/2022): Paul- I hope you have had a great summer. I wanted to share pics of our grid wire over the lagoons as discussed earlier this year. We completed the storm water retention pond grid wire in April and observed bird deterrence throughout the summer. As it appeared successful in deterring birds, we moved forward with the lagoons. Last month I had American Fence drive in t-posts (18” deep) and then the USDA Wildlife services technicians installed the grid lines. We utilized the chain link fence posts on one end and had fewer t-posts to install. The t-posts stayed on top of the berm but still allowed vehicle access. Have a great weekend! 10/18/2022 During the inspection Jason Burt and I discussed a type of waterfowl deterrent (for HPAI) that would require small diameter fence posts to be driven in the upper banks of the lagoon cells. Jason wanted to know if this would be allowable. I told him to check with Paul Petitti (Iowa DNR AFO Engineering). Jason sent and email and Paul replied based on the information he sent there should not be a problem. Please see the attached email converted to a pdf document. BILL GIBBONS
10/11/2022 On October 11, 2022 I conducted an earthen basin inspection of their four-cell egg washwater lagoon system (see attached inspection report). BILL GIBBONS
