3/8/2011	Visited landfill with Brian Jergenson. Met with Brette Vette and consulting engineer, Bob Bamsey. Looked at recent tire chip issues and at the "quality" of the tire chips stockpiled on site. There was some bead wire present in the chips but not nearly as many as were observed recently at the Linn County landfill. New cell in the process of be completed. Black Hawk County had to line the new cell with thicker membrane due to DNR CO concerns about puncturing the liner with the bead wire in the tire chips. This increased the cost of the project significantly. Bamsey and Vette were upset with the Central Office staff for not alerting them to this issue earlier.	DOUG HAWKER
