12/11/2020	Conducted a visit to Chamness, met Richard Swan onsite and we toured the entire compost pad. CR derecho related shredded storm damaged landscape waste is coming onto the facility by the semi load and much of it is being added to the sloppy areas to bulk up the piles by absorbing liquid. Richard says he'll take and use all the shredded material they can get to help with O2 into the pile and for absorbing excess moisture. Smoke was reported in the AM hrs of the 10th by a neighbor and at the time i was onsite around 1:30pm, smoke was noticeable on the gravel road, but not near as bad as i've seen it in the past. Leachate was not migrating offsite, instead it is being channeled into the east and west lagoon. The pumping system was in the east lagoon and some leachate at been pumped onto crop ground to the south. Parts for the screen pump are in and need to be put on. I asked Richard if the screen could be operated in the winter and he thought maybe it could but my guess is its unlikely. On the pad, operators continue to dig their way through the old piles, building up existing windrows.	KURT LEVETZOW
