10/11/2018 On October 10, 2018 we sent a letter to Waldo Genetics requiring the following (see attached letter for more details): You are required to do the following: • Pump down the basin and land-apply manure as soon as crops are removed from the fields used for manure application. If it appears the basin will overflow before land application can be done some of the manure must be put in an alternative storage structure. Bill and Marty discussed pumping manure from the basin into the shallow pits of the buildings to the south which are no longer being used. Marty said the buildings had shallow pits; however, they did have some storage capacity. Manure could also be pumped into the small square-shaped basin which currently has storage capacity. You must not allow the main basin to overflow! Contact Bill Gibbons at (515) 725-0335; bill.gibbons@dnr.iowa.gov when the basin has been pumped down or to discuss options if it is close to overflowing. • Trap or bait animals and rodents causing the animal burrows and fill in/repair the existing burrows to maintain the structural integrity of the basin. • Cut down all trees and woody vegetation on the basin structure and kill the stumps. BILL GIBBONS
10/10/2018 On October 9, 2018 I conducted an Earthen Manure Storage Basin Inspection (see attached inspection report). BILL GIBBONS
