8/2/2017 Ryan Stouder and I met with several Faircast representatives on 7-21-17 to discuss air quality and solid waste regulations as they apply to the old Fairfield Castings facility they just purchased and renamed "Faircast". This entry is just dealing with the solid waste portion of the visit, as Ryan will be addressing the air quality side in a separate note. We explained the history of the foundry sand dump and that originally the site was issued a BUD from DNR, that had an expiration date, however, the original fill ravine kept receiving foundry sand until just recently when Chad Stobbe sent them a letter requiring them to stop. Ryan and I verified that no additional sand has been taken to the ravine since Faircast took over. Faircast is now hoping to cap and close the fill site referred to as the "soccer field" and begin taking their waste sand to a rock quarry just outside of town. I told Roger Vorhies that he and I need to talk to DNR SW Section (C. Stobbe and A. Davidson) before they start hauling sand anywhere. See attached picts from the 21st site visit to the soccer field.
