7/20/2022 RE: backwash recycling rule question External Inbox Casey, Nathan Tue, Jul 19, 12:29 PM (22 hours ago) to me, Mike, Josh Janet, The backwash recycle is pumped back into the splitter box structure at the start of the plant. The backwash recycle flow is typically about 1.1 to 1.2 mgd. The plant’s raw water flow is typically over 11 mgd which would mean the backwash recycle is less than 10% of the raw water flow. While it would be unusual, we don’t have any systems in the plant to ensure water is not recycled at a rate greater than 10% of the raw water. The following trend shows raw water and backwash recycle water flow rates. JANET GASTINEAU
7/20/2022 DNR Sanitary Survey Questions External Inbox Casey, Nathan Attachments Wed, Jun 29, 6:42 AM to me Janet, We’ve got answers to a few of your sanitary survey questions: We have 94,000 active water service connections. Tank inspection schedule – With the pandemic we did fall behind with our tank inspections. We’ve planning on catching up in 2023. This will include inspecting FWTP Clearwell, Nollen standpipe, SEP Alleman, SWTP Clearwell and Joint east side tower. We are painting Tenny this year, and possibly Runnells. Next year we’ll probably be painting Hazen. Wilchinski Standpipe painting inspection reports are attached. The reports show various conformations of surface preparation, conformation of products used, conformation of coating inspections/tests, and auxiliary equipment operation. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. JANET GASTINEAU
7/20/2022 Re: IA7727031 Project W2022-0580 2021 Well Rehabilitation Inbox Pettit, Justin Mon, Jul 18, 4:38 PM (2 days ago) to me Janet, I tried to give you a call to discuss, but I'm guessing you are likely already clocked out! I'll forward you a copy of what was submitted, but it states that it is a rehab for Well 6 at Maffitt by installing a new lateral/well screen. I'm not certain why this is labeled "2021 Well Rehabilitation" when plans were signed in February of this year, so that's a mystery to me. iowadnr.gov JUSTIN D. I did a survey at this plant late June and no mention was made of a pending submission. Thanks. JANET GASTINEAU
