11/12/2024	Mike Smith (Iowa DNR LQB) and I visited the landfill to follow up on previous deficiencies before a renewed permit was issued. We met with the director Joe Farris and drove around the site. There was new signage around the site. Waste coverage was adequate and no significant litter was observed. Joe was maintaining a litter collection log. The leachate pond was nearly full and they continued to haul leachate to the Ottumwa POTW. No leachate was discharging to the sediment basin. We discussed the need for increasing leachate storage. Waste was being deposited in Cell 3. We discussed a future Cargill wastewater solidification process which would take place at the west end of the cell using Chillicothe coal ash for solidification. The old north site no longer had ponded water. Some concrete rubble had been placed on the upper north of this site. Photos attached. .	BILL GROSS
