Describe Request
3/24/2015 Figure 2 of the AWQR indicates a waste boundary about 83 feet from center line of road near the east half of the south boundary. Aerial photo in 2014 indicates trees a greater distance than 83 feet from the centerline of the road. This raises the question of how the waste boundary line was drawn. It appears that they do not have good survey data to tell them the waste boundary. This might result in central office DNR asking them to find waste boudary by digging or probing. MIKE SMITH

Comments
4/24/2015 On March 31, 2015, I met with Mark Beck, Director for the Waste Authority of Jackson County at the Jackson County transfer station and closed landfill. I provided Mr. Beck maps showing the area of possible concern. We reconned this location and did not observe anything obvious that would allow us to determine how far out the buried garbage layer extends to the south. Mark agreed to work with the facility's new engineer to develope a plan to explore this area of the landfill to determine the exact location of buried garbage. It is noted that the facility's long time engineer (Rick Yoerger) is in the process of retiring. A new Engineering firm (HLW) was in the process of being hired at the time of my visit. HLW is aware of DNR's concerns and will be formulating and implementing a plan to determine the exact boundary of the buried wastes in the near future. Mark Beck will keep this office and Mike Smith informed as to how these efforts progress. DOUG HAWKER
