4/1/2021 Bryan Hayes (fisheries) visited Ken's pond yesterday (3/30) and met with Ken and another neighbor in the area. Bryan reported that Ken's pond is very shallow, maybe 4ft deep, and most likely contains lots of sediment given the age of the pond, making it prone to summer and winter kills. While on site there was no sign of dead fish or a recent fish kill. Bryan suspects the pond may have been empty for years. Ken then explained to Bryan that a banker from Treynor bought a few lots in the area near Ken's pond and turned them into cattle yards. It sounds like the concern turned from the fishless pond to issues with the new cattle yard. Ken & his neighbor went on to say they think the banker has too many cattle, there has been manure in the ditch before, improper disposal, etc. It sounded like Alison had been there before or they had contacted her at one point. I followed up with Alison and she said yes she had been in contact with the cattle lot owner, Josh Guttau. CLAIRE ASBERRY
