9/5/2013 9/5/13 - Jody Rhone called and reported they wish to move the tree burn site to property the city owns south of the landfill that will also meet separation distance requirements. He said this may take about six months so he will have the neighbor sign a temporary waiver. I told him this is acceptable as long as the site is not within the permitted landfill area. I encouraged him, however, to stop burning altogether. BILL GROSS
8/28/2013 Jody Rhone (landfill manager) called and reported that the fire burned out that evening. He said that the site in not atop waste bur is within about 800 ft. of the nearest residence. We discussed the tree burn site exemption and I am sending him the regulations. I told him that if he can't get a sign off from the owner, they need to consider other options. BILL GROSS
8/26/2013 I vitied the site and found that the landfill was already closed (4:05 PM). I called Keith Laube, city engineer, and informed him of the complaint. I told him I could smell smoke blowing across Highway 14. I told him to make sure the fire is out by nightfall and that they avoid nuisance conditions in the future. 8/26/13 - I talked to the complainant and informed him of my findings. He said the smoke is gone. He said they seem burn about weekly. I told him to call if a nuisance develops again. I and sending a letter to Mr. Laube (attached). BILL GROSS
