1/31/2013	I visited the site and met with Mr. Palmer and his son. Mr. Palmer said that appliances must be dismantled before they will accept them. He said he takes appliances to metal salvage yards in Kansas City, Missouri (including Midwest Salvage). He showed me the pile of appliances on-site and I quickly found a microwave that had not been dismantled. I told him he must inspect every appliance to ensure it contains no refrigerant, PCB capacitors, or mercury components. He stated an interest in obtaining a demanufacturing permit, so I am sending him an application. He said his son is already trained. We also discussed stormwater runoff and sampling.
