1/27/2009	1/27 - I spoke with Art Peck and Bob Hayworth. Bob stated that swine manure was being applied on fields in 77N, 14W sec. 1&12 at ~8,000 gallons/acre within the last week. Cold temps have ceased all application as of today. They also plan to apply in fields located in 77N, 13W sec. 6 & 7 as soon as conditions allow. I informed him of the concerns with applying during frozen/snow conditions. He stated they were near full and application was needed. They planned to apply enough to get them to Fall 2009. Dietrich Custom Pumping was hired to do the application. I informed Bob I would observe the fields and let him know if I have any concerns. 1/29 - I drove by the fields that are being used for manure application. Only fields located in sec. 1&12 are in the Hawthorn Lake watershed. These fields had little slope. New tiling had occurred in sec. 1 and recently installed tile intakes were installed. The land application umbilical hose was located in fields 1&12. The other fields located in sec. 6 & 7 had more slope and some tile intakes as well. There did appear to be nearby water sources in fields 6 & 7. I informed Bob of these sensitive areas and recommended greater separation distances.	Ted Petersen
