2/17/2025 2/17/2025 Called Russ Benke to discuss the extension. He noted the board is expecting a clean tipping floor each day and working with staff on that. He also noted that they will continue to monitor the leachate load out repairs. He has been on-site at least weekly to monitor overall progress at both the landfill and xfr station. AMBER SAUSER
2/13/2025 Extended deadline to 3/28/25 due to shipping issue (email attached). AMBER SAUSER
1/9/2025 Jason Gearhart visited the site on 1/2/25 to observe recent improvements to the transfer station. I requested that he observe the leachate loadout area and let me know if the repairs had been made (anticipated they would be completed by end of 2024). He observed leachate was overflowing from the load-out area onto a closed section of the landfill. This issue has been addressed in a NOV and the FO has been working with the landfill to repair the system. After Mr. Gearhart's visit, he sent an email to a board member Russ Benke and myself informing him of the findings. I requested via email that Mr. Benke and I meet on site on 1/7/25. Mr. Taylor and Benke were present. Mr. Taylor indicated that they are now working with the hauler who is also a certified septic installer to make the necessary repairs as the previous person had an illness/injury and was unable to complete the work. He noted that he had checked on the leachate tank a few days before Mr. Gearhart's visit and it was ok. He did not anticipate the overflow. He noted that he will check more often until repairs are made. We agreed that he will provide routine status updates until the repairs are made by 2/28. In addition, any overflows will be reported to the FO. Both the tank and overflow tank had capacity at the time of this visit. It was also recommended that they evaluate the amount of leachate they are hauling now compared to historically. We discussed that the level alarms should be set to prevent an overflow and not necessarily at the levels indicated in the preliminary design approved decades ago. Information from this visit was then summarized in an email sent to Mr. Benke and Taylor on 1/9/25. A follow up visit will be conducted in March or earlier if notified that repairs are completed.
