8/3/2021	Sometime last night one of the confinement barns at the Taurus Sow facility lost power resulting in 400 sows to die. I have been on the phone with Dave Wittry and Jay Peterson a few times this morning. Disposal options went from composting to now burial. The facility does not want to render due to biosecurity concerns. I just sent Dave and Jay the petition for waiver form and a guidance document for their required facility burial plan. (This is the same information that we developed during the COVID mass burial disposal.) I've already verified with the burial siting atlas that the proposed location for burial is in a low risk area. However, once approved, they will notify FO4 when burial commences at which time an inspection will be conducted. Letter will be sent.	ALISON MANZ
