11/9/2023	Brian Rath (Iowa DNR LQB) and I met with Steve Phillips of Cargill to examine the seeding over the entire landfill site (north and south units). The grass seeding had germinated well, but needed more warm moist weather to get denser. The site was dry so we did not see any ponding. We also looked at monitoring wells and the leachate collection system. The leachate pond had about a 3 ft. freeboard and no longer had discharge pipes to the creek. Leachate was being hauled to the Ottumwa WWTP and the Cargill - Eddyville WWTP. We discussed the need to possibly reseed sparse areas next spring and to ensure the leachate pond does not overflow. I took photos (attached). After Cargill submits its final closure report, Brian Rath will review it and issue a 10-year closure permit.	BILL GROSS
