12/2/2010	On 10/5/10, Chad Stobbe of the DNR Central Office and I accompanied EPA consultants on an inspection of the ash storage lagoons for the Interstate (Alliant Energy) facility in Lansing. We met with Joseph Klein and Mark Hoskins of Dewberry and Davis LLC, along with Bill Sangster, plant manager, Bill Skalitzky, Senior environmental specialist, and Jenna Wischmeyer, Senior Environmental Specialist. The purpose of this inspection was to look at the physical condition of the ash sluice water lagoons. We reconned the entire site and reviewed the old blue prints of the ash ponds. In conclusion, Dewberry personnel told company officials that they needed to remove trees from the outer embankments of the ash ponds. They ultimately classified the dam that forms the lagoon at this location as "low impact".	DOUG HAWKER
