7/20/2018	On the morning of 19JULY18 I drove by Daybreak Foods to check on the wastewater application. I noted that both the pivot and the spray gun were being used. I made an unannounced visit and met with Nick West and Barret Rehm, who accompanied me on a visual inspection. There was less than 18” of freeboard in the lagoon. Mr. West reported that they had just started applying approximately 2 hours before my visit. The field under the pivot had dried up and no runoff was occurring. The gun sprayer in the temporarily-approved application area did not seem to have a tip on it, so we hiked out to the center of the cornfield to examine it. Mr. West reported that the contractor they were using removed the tip because the back pressure had exceeded the rated specification of the hose. As a result, they were applying 400 gpm in a half circle approximately 120 feet in diameter. I advised Mr. West to check the maximum application rate in his permit and calculate the current rate to ensure they would not exceed that. The temporarily-approved fields were dry except where application was occurring and no runoff was observed.	DAVID MILLER
