8/5/2024	I stopped at the closed landfill to see if any progress had been made on the repair to the leachate pipe. Upon arrival I observed that the pipe seal had been repaired. Work was still being done on the electrical and connections from the pipe to the storage tanks. I then observed that water was flowing from a pipe connecting the leachate line to the overflow storage tank. I met with Karl at the transfer station and we returned to the area. He noted that the pipe seal was recently replaced and electrical contractors had just left. We discussed that the culvert should be immediately blocked, flow stopped and leachate hauled. He indicated he would do this. No flow was observed leaving the landfill property. It was further noted that the landfill had been recently mowed. Some trees remained and the animal burrowing had yet to be addressed. Karl noted he would resolve these issues and provide the requested written response. On July 30 Karl called and noted that the culvert was covered and leachate hauled. Work is still being done to repair the high level alarms. The alarm will continue to be a light until a more advanced system is installed. He noted that staff will monitor the alarm more closely (few times a week).	AMBER SAUSER
