10/29/2012	Conducted site visit to this facility on 17SEP12. Dan Aastrup was away and I spoke with operator Bruce Rewoldt. Load check records were satisfactory and working face was being properly managed. I had previously spoken to Mr. Aastrup about leaving the side of the intermediate cover open (trash still visible through soil) and he said he does it so he can better tie in the next lift. I have told him in the past that he needs to cover it all up so no trash is showing. There was some minor trash showing through on the side of the intermediate cover today, and I advised Mr. Rewoldt that it had to be all covered.	DAVID MILLER
