5/21/2021 The new leachate lagoon and landfill cell are under construction; leachate is being controlled. BILL GROSS
4/7/2021 3/31/21 - I received the lab report from the landfill for discharge water from the final sediment basin. It shows contamination (COD, BOD, ammonia). 4/7/21 - I received the lab report for water samples I collected from the waterway leading from the sed. basin to Honey Creek (at confluence). It too showed high COD and ammonia, though not as high as the basin discharge. Both lab reports are attached. BILL GROSS
3/24/2021 3/24/21 email update from John Roosa: We’ve been monitoring the basin and spillway and everything appears in good condition. I went down there this afternoon to see how things were after the rain. The pond is the same, a clear/green color, and the water coming out of the pipe into the creek is clear also. The ditch going to the east before the pond is back to a brownish color with little odor. It has been lowered also with our operators hauling out of there on Friday and Saturday. We will continue to pump from there when we are able to get to it again, hopefully in a good drying day or two. On Monday, Todd had dug a couple large sump areas near the base of the landfill slope to retain some of the run off when it first comes out into the ditch. This has made a significant difference in what is flowing down to the corner and into the east/west ditch going toward the pond. I think this will be a good preventive measure to help us retain some run off and further prevent it from reaching the pond and spillway. HLW took a sample from the spillway on Monday also, and I believe that has been sent to Keystone Labs. I don’t know how long it takes for results, but can share that when they are received.
