Statement of Complaint:

Complainant stated that she was calling to file a complaint. I asked her location and she said Fairfield. She said that her and her family don't feel well, wake up feeling 'not rested', generally not breathing well and shortness of breath. I asked if there were any vapors, odors, particulate matter or dust that she could pinpoint as a cause. She said no. I then explained that if there is no focus or source she could pinpoint, she may want to contact the city/county health department. She said no, she thinks it is because of the new facility in town. When asked what facility, she took a minute to find the name and reported it was Hycast foundry. She clearly stated that she 'did not want the facility operation permit to be renewed'. I told her that the facility had been operating there for many years, and asked how long she had lived in her residence. She said she moved back to town ~1 year ago, and it wasn't this bad when she used to live here. She reiterated that she did not want the operation permit to be renewed.

2/12/2026	From reading this complaint, one of the complainant's statements referred to "not wanting the operation permit renewed" (referring to the facilities TV Air Permit). A couple of weeks ago, there was a public meeting on the issuance of HyCast's TV Air Permit and there is a lot of local opposition to that and I feel that this complaint has more to do with issuance of a permit vs health concerns. For this reason, this particular complaint won't be forgotten about, however, I don't feel the need to send an air inspector down to HyCast based on the complainant's main concern of issuance of an air permit....since my office (Field Office 6) does not issue air permits.
