On April 15, 2025, I spoke with Mr. Mike Graff, a resident of Toledo, IA. He has previously contacted me with complaints about windblown litter from the Tama County Landfill, which I have previously forwarded to FO5. Mr. Graff indicated that he feels the Tama County Landfill is not currently doing enough to address windblown litter. Mr. Graff stated that he thinks there are issues with uncovered loads coming into the landfill and a lack of litter fence/debris netting. Mr. Graff requested that the landfill be inspected for compliance.

I received a call from Mike Graff who lives in Toledo. He lives next to the Tama County Landfill. He can be reached at (641)750-5988. Mr. Graff said that in the last week there has been a higher-than-normal amount of litter from the landfill and they haven't been doing as good a job with daily cover at the end of the day. Mr. Graff said he's been picking up garbage/litter from the landfill for years now and with the wind that came through recently, it was about as bad as it's ever been. He requested whether there was anything that could be done to have them keep things cleaner. He thinks they need to do a better job of picking up litter, installing wind breaks, and better daily cover. He did not request to be kept anonymous and said you are free to follow up with him about any questions you might have.

4/21/2025	Significant amounts of previous workface surface area were inadequately covered contributing to windblown litter both onsite and off site. Litter logs did indicate it was being addressed both onsite and off site, but more frequent pickups or increased fines for uncovered loads may remediate the current issues.	BRENDA SMITH
