12/23/2014 County Engineer called to discuss the outcome of the complaint (as a follow up for the complainant). He wanted clarification on separation distances. ERIN OGLE
12/10/2014 On November 26, 2014, I investigated the site (Section 32, Platte Township (T70N, R32W), Taylor County). MMP indicated that surface application took place within 750 feet to a residence; however, it was not incorporated within 24 hours. Using a laser rangefinder, I determined the separation distance from the field to the residence at 2990 150th Street to be approximately 600 feet. I was also able to faintly smell manure while on site. To verify no water quality violations took place, I used a low level ammonia field test kit and it showed the tributary flow to be clear and less than 10 PPM. Photographs were taken to document my observations, as well. NOV is recommended for the applicator. ERIN OGLE
11/24/2014 11/24/2014: In order to determine which confinement actually spread the manure, I contacted Becky Sexton (Twin Lakes) and Brian Ritland (Pinnacle). They are the contacts for the four confinements in Taylor county, associated with Mr. Klocke. Both are looking into providing me with the matrix and spreading records for the sites to determine if one of these sites did spread manure during the given time frame of the complaint. ERIN OGLE
