2/13/2024 I (Brian Lee) visited the facility as part of a planned visit and investigated this complaint. A minor amount of litter remained north of 160th Street. I discussed this complaint with Chamness staff Lillian and Truman Chamness and Richard Swan. The facility had picked a majority of the litter on 2/9. An additional effort is planned to get the remaining litter. The facility has been in touch with Chad. Noticeable litter remained in the south ditch/ROW and on the vegetation south of the road (on Chamness's site). Litter is due to the facility re-screening the "overs" pile which contains high amounts of litter/solid waste since it has been screened a few times already. The facility claimed the wind was significant (30+) from the south on 2/8/24 and that led to litter being blown off site. Litter picking efforts on site will continue as well. BRIAN LEE
2/9/2024 Lillian Chamness emailed me back. See attached email. KURT LEVETZOW
2/9/2024 I called Chad back (he'd previously left me a voice message) and we discussed. He's less than happy that his brand new $9,000 fence is covered in Chamness's trash. He said he's lost a customer due to baling Chamness's trash into his round bales, so he's not going to put up with this any longer. I explained to Chad that I reached out to Chamness staff and asked them to go assess the situation and if the trash is theirs, to remove it. KURT LEVETZOW
2/9/2024 I emailed Lillian and Gary Chamness as well as Doug McCrea of Chamness, asking them to go look at the situation and assuming the blowing trash is from Chamness's compost site, remove it. KURT LEVETZOW
