8/7/2020	Ted Petersen of DNR Field Office 5 and I visited the site, partly due to the new complaint that affects both regions, but also as part of FO6's weekly progress determination regiment. Ted noted the following: Kurt and I visited the facility on August 6 to discuss the recent complaint allegations and to get a progress update on improving the onsite conditions. We met Richard Swan. Richard showed us around the facility I got the impression that he had a strong aptitude for managing a composting facility and had made a positive impact the short time he has been there. He has been allocated the resources by the owner to make improvements. Richard is working to get the screening equipment, as it is currently inoperable. Parts have been ordered and the screening equipment will likely be functioning in a week or two. Richard confirmed that all finished material leaving the site will be screened to one inch. In the future, he is the contact for land application complaints received by DNR regarding their material. There was a pile of finished material onsite that had been screened prior to the equipment breaking down. There was no visible evidence of plastic or other non compliant material in the surface of that pile. At least visually it appeared that that material would likely comply with this citation 105.3(10) Compost shall not be applied to land, sold or given away unless the concentration of human-made inert materials such as glass, metal, and plastic is less than 1.5 percent by dry weight. Compost shall not be applied to land, sold or given away unless the size of any human-made inert materials is less than 13 mm (0.512 inches).	KURT LEVETZOW
