9/12/2017 Mike called regarding dumpsters on site and I provided an email response on management of exterior containers: --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Septer, Michael <[email protected]> Date: Tue, Sep 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM Subject: Re: Henniges Automotive Storm Water Permit No 1 Question To: "Lee, Brian [DNR]" <[email protected]> Cc: "Levetzow, Kurt" <[email protected]> Hi Brian, Hope all is good. If you have a minute, I have a General Storm Water No. 1 permit question. We have one open top dumpster for our solid waste on site with a tarp covering it. We have one open top metal recycling dumpster we call in when we have recycled metal to load and it may be here a couple of days then is called out. My question is, are we able to modify our General Storm Water No. 1 permit to have these open top dumpsters on site without any covering and pay a fee for doing this? Hope you have a blessed day. Thanks, Mike Mike, Open top dumpsters are allowed to be on site as long as they are managed properly. Minimizing contact with storm water and preventing discharges from any container should be outlined in the facility's storm water plan and effectively implemented. If the dumpsters are not covered, and exposed to storm water, then the facility must implement the proper best management practices to ensure they will not leak or discharge any contents. Management of any collected fluids or storm water in the dumpsters should also be outlined in the facility plan and effectively implemented as well. I hope that explanation helps. Brian BRIAN LEE
