9/12/2017 Spoke with Eric Cherko. After flushing, the system is now producing consistent chlorine residuals of ~1.3 mg/L at the SEP and ~1.1-1.2 mg/L in the system. However, his pump and tubing is maxed out. I advised him that he needs to increase his pump size to ensure that the minimum chlorine residuals of 1.5 mg/L are maintained, especially since it could be several months before the ammonia oxidizing bacteria get built back up within the filter media. He asked if I could help him determine dosage to assist him in purchasing a new pump. I responded that we don't have raw water ammonia data, and that it takes approximately 10-12 parts of chlorine to consume every 1 part of ammonia. Therefore, Eric is going to collect a raw water ammonia sample immediately and contact us with the results. I also told him that he would have to figure in the demand for iron and manganese within the finished water, and anything else that may be in it that would consume chlorine. KEITH WILKEN
