2/2/2016 Kemnitz called about the plans they have for the facility. The new well/treatment building project is on hold. They may simply install a smaller RO system at the current treatment location instead. Currently, the treated water goes to the production areas. Untreated water goes to the barns. They want to add showers/breakrooms in several barns, each with its own POU softener. I stated that this plan may be permissible if the water comes from the “clean” side of the RPZs in the barns. Currently, treatment is not mandatory at the facility. If they install POU softeners in the break rooms, they would not need DNR construction permits. If they elect to add chlorine to the water system, they would need permits and would be required to submit MORs. I cautioned them that if any type of treatment is mandatory in the future, it would significantly change the requirements to provide treated water in the many locations that they serve. I verified that the existing barn bathroom is located on the “clean” side of the RPZ. Kemnitz sent a brief email acknowledging our conversation but did not add any details or a summary. SCOTT WILSON
