11/30/2015 The Raccoon River nitrates were 14.33 mg/L and Des Moines River bouncing around 8.1 to 11.2 mg/L; gallery was 10.2. they used the gallery most of the summer. FE was as high as 9.5 so it was decided to put it on. Microcystin and other toxin monitoring continues. Minor counts on the Des Moines River. They ID the algae and that triggers the toxin testing. Crystal Lake raw water also had levels. JANET GASTINEAU
11/30/2015 Jeff had a question on composite sampling for the NPDES permit. I told him flow composite was fine. He also asked about the fact that they just started the nitrate removal system up on11/21/15 do they have to sample in November since their frequency is 1/2 weeks. I told him no, they could sample the first week of december and be in compliance with the permit requirements. They have budgeted connection/pump station to WRA for next year and will eliminate the discharge/need for the NPDES permit. JANET GASTINEAU
