From: Saunders, Rob [mailto:RobSaunders@alliantenergy.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2014 3:32 PM To: Lee, Brian [DNR] Cc: Skalitzky, William Subject: Ottumwa Generating Station 126 Water Priority Chemicals hits Brian, I just wanted to give you an update on this project. Recall that in our July semi-annual testing of our cooling tower water for the 126 water priority chemicals we had hits for the following: • Chloroform, 2.93 µg/l • 4, 4’-DDT, 0.0406 µg/l • Copper, 0.0292 µg/l It is our position that we do not use these chemicals in our cooling towers. However we are presently planning to retest a new sample of cooling tower water using two independent laboratories. We are also collecting the MSDS sheets for all chemicals used in our cooling towers. After the analysis is completed, we plan on sending a letter to you explaining what we found. Please let me know if you have any additional requests. Thank you.
