6/20/2014 Lyndall, nighbor, called regarding the proposed well and contaminated area that the landfill plans to buy from him. he wanted an update and I did not have the info he needed. I emailed the SW Central Office Staff and Mike Smith respondedvia email and attached the recent ground water documents. Laura Liegois was sent an email by Mike Smith asking for an update. Laura also called me to discuss the issue with me since I was at the landfill yesterday. Mike's email correspondence is below: Mr. Winter: Based on our phone conversation you asked if migration is still occurring and I stated that we need more information and that we have asked the permit holder for two permanent monitoring wells and additional testing (see Item 3 in attached Document 74763) on your property to try to answer that question. You stated that you were not aware of that need and have not been approached to do that work. I also stated that I have asked Laura Liegois with an update on their efforts to obtain site access and that we will update you on that information when it becomes available. Also, our most recent communication with the permit holder is attached, dated June 11, 2014. To help with communications, I suggest that you access as many engineering and water quality reports that you want using our internet database. https://programs.iowadnr.gov/solidwaste/reports/DocumentDNA.aspx Once on this page, the user: 1) Enters into the filter selections the permit number of interest, in this case "70-SDP-02-75: Muscatine County Sanitary Landfill" (alternatively one could enter in the permit name). The first two digits of the permit is the county number, "SDP" stands for Sanitary Disposal Permit, the next two digits "02" indicate that this was the second SDP permit issued in this county and the last two digits indicate the year the permit was issued. 2) Click the "Get Document" button. 3) Click on the column header entitled "Date" twice to sort from latest to oldest. 4) Click on the document you wish to see or enter the document no. in one of the selection boxes. 5) A new website tab is generated, size it to your full monitor screen (if you don't do this you won't get a tool bar on the bottom of the viewing area - need to hover over this area). 6) Only the first page of the document is shown, if you want all the pages click the check mark in the blue box. 7) You should be able to review this document using an Adobe reader toolbar. 8) Call me and I can walk you through these steps. The more recent documents may not have been scanned and entered into the database. Let me know if there is such a document and we can get it scanned in a few days. Thanks. MICHAEL SMITH, P.E.
